annoying system tray icon issue in XP

When I start Windows, the Wireless Network Connection icon in the system tray always says that I'm not connected to my wireless network when in fact I am connected. The only thing that seems to fix the problem is going to my Network Connections folder and refreshing the page. What could the problem be?

whats managing the wireless devices, windows or a program you installed, only 1 can manage wireless connections, the other has to be disabled.
