annoying sign-in screen in win 2000

My sign-in screen (msn) keeps appearing at start-up and I'm not sure how to keep it from doing that. Is it an app that's causing it or something in windows 2000 that I can adjust? With "password remember" and "auto sign-in" checked I end up on-line when I don't want to be. BTW it's win2000 w/SP1 installed.
