Annoying Resolution Notice

I have a Viewsonic 17" LCD 8ms monitor. whenever i dont have something in 1280x1024 resolution this annoying resolution notice pops up and keeps telling me to change resolution...and what if i cant (say im playing an old game that only goes up to 800x640 or something) the message says press "1" to clear or "2" to disable but these buttons don't clear or disable the message. what can i do to get rid of this annoying notice?

I also have a Viewsonic - the 8ms 191B so I bet it's very similiar to yours. I also noticed the exact same issue. For me, the blue box will disappear on it's own after a few seconds (but the 1 and 2 keys don't work - just like you). I wrote Viewsonic and unfortunately according to them, there is no way to disable the blue box.

Thats BS, there must be a registry entry for it or something, did you install the CD that came with the monitor? If so, try un-installing it.

wow...how retarded is that...i mean it's a great monitor but if you are doing something you cant put in 1280x1024 res. you shouldnt be inhibited by a stinkin box that takes up a 4th of the screen

I just went into the registry and found the viewsonic monitor drivers...i guess that means i installed something. just wondering if i should mess with it...dont wanna screw anything up

You have to press the '2' button on the bottom of the monitor, not on the keyboard.

I had the same problem and figured out what to do based on this link:
Viewsonic Question

Which states:
Q & A: LCD

How do I disable the Resolution Notifier?

Using only the buttons on the front of the monitor, do the following:

1. Press #1.
2. Use down arrow to highlight Setup Menu and press #2.
3. Use down arrow to highlight Resolution Notice and press #2.
4. Select Disable and Exit.
