Annoying problem with 2005fpw

I don't know where the problem is here. I am running a 2005fpw on a GF 6800 GTO and whenever I change any settings in display properties (I mean ANY setting, even sliding the gamma bar one notch) causes my desktop wallpaper to be replaced with a blank gray screen. I can reset the wallpaper just fine, but it's really annoying to have to reapply the wallpaper every time a make a change in video settings.

Does anyone else experience this with their LCD? This is my first LCD so I don't know if this problem is particular to the 2005fpw or all LCDs. I have never seen a CRT do this.

I am running winXP Pro, if it matters.

I'm not sure because I'm at work right now, but I just checked nvidia's website and apparently they released a new driver on 6/22. The last time I remember installing video drivers was in mid may, so I obviously don't have the latest.

Well try turning off active desktop or restarting active desktop

Also, after chaning setting, try pressing "F5" when desktop is active (desktop is on focus)

Active desktop isn't enabled. Acutally I couldn't find anything explicitly named 'active desktop' in winxp. I found something about customizing the desktop with web content, and that was disabled.

Anyone else?
