ANNOYING problem...LAN/Internet dies every 20-30 mins....
I'm unable to download via BT, talk on MSN, or even watch online video for 30+ minutes straight without my Internet going on and off...When it goes off, the Network Icon says: "The network cable has been unplugged" but then a few seconds later it's up and running again...I've never experienced something like this before. Usually if my ISP is having problems, it takes 30-40seconds for me to get a new external IP and reconnect to the server..This however is instant reconnection - my Internet dies (with the network connections notification) and recovers a few seconds later...I just started experiencing this 2 days ago.
I haven't changed any Internet settings...been using the same router and modem for over 2 years without problems...my phone line just got fixed a month ago and it's been rock solid (even better) than before...my down and up speeds are capped at their advertised speeds...I just switched ethernet cables but the problem still exists..I highly doubt it's ISP/Internet hardware related....
I doubt it's related to my recent hardware changes too....I just switched platforms and upgraded to C2D...the only hardware problem there might be is my new Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard, but AFAIK, there's nothing defective with the LAN port or drivers (or am I wrong?). I have the latest F5 bios, latest chipset/network drivers and latest Windows Update. It should be fine......
2-3 days before I started getting these intermittent disconnections, I did some service tweaking in my Windows registry via services.msc. I followed a reputable online guide (BlackViper XP SP2 services tweak that I've been using for over 4 years) and disabled most of the useless, resource hoggers. I just went back to double check to make sure I didn't disable any Internet-related services and I should be fine.....
So I guess the question is, what the heck is going on?
