Annoying MS AntiSpyware.

In fact, it launches even if I click speaker icon in systray to adjust volume. Pretty much anything.

it's beta so who knows how much it can screw up

the reason I didnt install it is they are gonna cut it off in a few months anway

They arent going to cut it off... the reason it "expires" is because it's BETA, and they dont want people using BETA's forever.

Doesn't mean they're not going to continue offering it for free. My understanding was that they intend to include it in the next version of Windows, and probably offer it for free for current windows users as well. The time-limited beta would be used to ensure that people aren't using a beta when a newer version exists.

Edit: Blast, AdamSnow beat me to it. 🙂_

in the EULA, it says it won't be updated anymore sometime this summer

I didn't say anything about it being offered for free or not in my post

Regardless of how you choose the settings in the First time that you used the Wizard, following the first scan, you should go back to the Options Setting (top menu) read and choose the final settings.

This program actually got very favorable reviews from the Pro community.

Beside few Beta1 setting ?Kinks? it is really a very good cleaner.

In addition it gives you info about what it is going to clean like No other cleaner that is currently on the market.

There's another thread by Shaden. that allows you to disable the information it sends to MS, but in you have to edit a registry key (they didn't want to make it a checkbox apparently)

Here's an interesting review from the Associated Press Tech Writer that went over the wires yesterday
here

Ignore the sensationalist headline 🙂

Glad you edited that last line in. The review doesn't mention how well other anti-spyware programs did, apparantly because he didn't test any others. I've found MS Antispyware ineffective on a computer I've tried to clean up, but the alternatives did no better.

Have you tried HijackThis?

The first thing that a computer avid should know is the difference between reviews that are written by known computer Analyst as oppose to Journalist.

You can find on the Internet Positive and Negative publications about every thing in the world.

It is very easy to choose to one that suit your own ?bad mouthing? purposes.

People are so eager to trash that the link in alm4rr is Not related to the topic of this thread (Microsoft AntiSpy); it has to do with something else that Microsoft released for other purposes.

Here is what one of the most known computer analyst thinks about MS - AntiSpy.

Link to: Microsoft Antispy.
