Annoying Messenger Messages!!!

lately i don't know why...but i have been getting these annoying "Messenger Messages" that pop-ups whenever it feels like it...it've already gotten to a point that i uninstalled Windows messenger...i thought it worked cuz it stopped for a full 24 hours...but i just turned on my computer and just a few minutes...it popped up again!!! i don't get this...???how come it still comes up...is there a way to kill it off...

if anyone can help me with this, i would really appreciate it... thanks

Are you using Windows XP? If so then you have to remove "Windows Messenger Service" not just Windows Messenger. Or you can disable it through gpedit. Go to RUN and type in gpedit and look for the Windows Messenger Service or Messenger Service and disable it. Or if that doesn't work for you go to www.TweakXP.com and do a search on Windows Messenger and you should be able to find a command string to un-install the Messenger Service.

thanks anyway, but i just removed myself from dmz for my firewall and haven't gotten those messages since...downside is that i can't use some of my other programs normally to my convenience anymore...
 
Simple solution to prevent furnter Messenger spam (this is Windows Messenger Service, and NOT MSN Messenger) do this:

Open Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services

Find the one called "Messenger", right click it and stop it. Right click again, click Properties and disable it. Problem solved.
