i've tried to connect to workstations either by the computer management snapin or via run line. i get the annoying error that the network was not found. I have dns ptr records for all of the workstations (forward and reverse) and can do an nslookup with success, but manging these workstations has proven difficult. is there a gpo setting that i need to enable inorder to get this to work? i.e DCOM machine access?

fyi. the workstation are able to connect to the server via run line just fine.

if you need more info let me know.

thanks in advance!

I believe you are wanting to change this key in the local group policy on each machine you want to manage.

Computer configuration->Administrative Templates->Network->Network Connections->Windows Firewall->Domain Profile

Look for Windows Firewall: Allow inbound remote administration exception

Enable and put localsubnet in the box
