Hi!

My configuration:

Intel Core i5-3470, 4x 3.20GHz, boxed
Sapphire Radeon HD 7850, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, lite retail - Driver Packaging 9.012-121219a-154961C-ATI; Catalyst 13.1
ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP, H77
Corsair XMS3 DIMM 4GB PC3-10667U CL9-9-9-24 (DDR3-1333)
Cougar A400 400W ATX 2.3
Win7x64

On the Windows desktop I get annoying graphics bugs like these:

I have the most recent driver installed. Is my graphics card defective or what's the problem here?

Thank you!

Is this over the entire screen, or just the portions in the pic? Have you tried an older driver? Does your CPU model have Intel graphics (and do you use it)?

Looks like bad VRAM to me. Or perhaps some of the memory bus traces are damaged.
+1. That's the kind of thing that can happen when VRAM is overclocked, so we generally assume stock symptoms like it are a RAM problem. If an older driver won't fix it, see if you can RMA it. It should have a 2-year warranty.

I just found out that there is a newer driver (13.5) but it shows the same behavior. Is there some kind of VRAM test like for regular RAM? I prefer to tell the vendor what the problem is instead of giving him room to say "he couldn't see anything".

After a restart the bug is gone (so far). I'll update here when it returns... Thanks!

Hi, I know this post is older but the problem returned, so I tried infoitrators advice and tried the iGPU. I did not experience any problems so I RMAed my graphics card and got a new one.
But today after working with it for a couple of days I had the error again :( VirtualLarry, what did you mean by

is this part of the graphics card?
Any further ideas?

Often if a system exhibits issues with the video card that aren't caused by the card itself it can be OS, drivers, mobo or psu related. First thing to do is to make sure everything is up to date, mobo bios, OS updates, Dx, .net updates, and all connections are solid. If you can try different cables from the psu too.
