Annoying drive issue with 1394 on my Abit NFS7 v2

I'm trying to run a camcorder into my desktop. A few months ago I had no problems with this. Now, however, the camera just won't be recognized. This is on XP pro. I have a laptop with a 1394 port and everything is great, so we know the camcorder and cable are working fine. Under hardware of my desktop I see no problems with the 1394 bridge or anything else, but when I plug in the camera there is simply "no love" forthcoming. Nothing pops up, and when I load up Uleah and do "capture", it says no device was found.

I'm running on the latest mobo drivers from Abit.

Thanks for any ideas 🙂 I'm soon going to just capture on the laptop and be forced to transfer all files to my desktop to work on them!

It seems to me though to be less of a software/codec issue (video software I mean) as much as a driver one; the 1394 port is just "dead" to the computer, although it does show up in system hardware and under network settings, and I know the camera and cable are good; - they simply don't see each other.

Are you using WinXP w/ SP2? If so, we have the same problem. I've been googling for a solution, found patches here and there, but haven't yet found one.
