Annoying: DivX Player always starts at 100% volume

I have some files that only play in DivX Player. It is also the only player I have that doesn't remember the last volume level when it was closed. Is there an alternative?
 
Doesn't it just start at whatever your windows volume control is set at ? It's either the master or the WAV setting...
 
I have some DivX files that are corrupt and DivFix doesn't repair them. They only play with DivX Player. WMP 9, 10, 6.4, and MPC all say invalid format or no codec found. The problem is that that audio slider in the player always opens at 100% (pictured below). I hate having to turn down my speakers every time I use DP so they don't blow them. Is there another program that is so forgiving with DivX video with an audio slider that does work?
