I have a VW Jetta as a rental for the rest of the week...

Whenever I slow down (at a light or to turn) or when I accelerate from a stop, the car makes a single ding sound (like a door open ding)....some message in the dash flashes (displays something about 20MPH so I am not sure if it is some type of mileage warning)

I cant figure out for the life of me how to turn this off....there is no manual in the glove box and nothing on Google about it (unless my google skills have failed me)...

anyone have any ideas?

Go into the menus and change the speed warning. It's set at 20mph.

heh damn... I thought it was that feature where the car makes a noise when you reach the appropriate tire pressure... so the pressure would fluctuate around that limit when you came to a stop or accelerated. lol

This is a common issue with rentals. People go into the the settings and mess around with them, but don't put them back when they return it. Remember I had a van once that someone had changed to Spanish. Oh and then there was the Ford Flexes that head office sent us that all had the Ford MyKey set to the default 125km/h. That sucked. We couldn't even turn it off because HO kept the master keys.

Tire pressure does not fluctuate that rapidly.

I sometimes use that feature on my GTI to avoid going over 85 on the Interstate (anything about that and your FHP bait).

Next time I'm in one of my VW service's rentals I'll be sure to set that option on for the next driver. What a fun prank. :D

Had a '68 Buick Electra 225 convertible in our family way back when. It had a pointer you could set on the speedometer. A buzzer would sound at the speed you set. Had the Buick 430 V8 in it.
