annoying beeps every 2 seconds

hi all,
im posting from my mom's new pc. It's a Dell with xp home. It beeps every 2 seconds and is really f'ing annoying. I've never heard this on another xp machine. It basically beeps on every f'ing thing that opens or closes.........how do i turn this stupid sh!t off???

Disable sounds or install the sound card drivers. Basically you have the sounds being played through the PC speaker, I think.

you mean like windows event sounds? you can turn those off in the control panel/sounds
