Annoying and Hilarious headlines in Cincinnati Enquirer

This is the front page story. This is a Knight Ridder News Service Story...so it may me in your paper also.

INS process prompts outrage

Then there is a picture of a bunch of protesters holding signs...the caption says:

Mani Simmons carries a sign Monday in front of the INS building in San Francisco, where protesters spoke out against required registration of foreigners.

Then 3 pages later, the story continues with the following headline:

INS:Those who register run risk of deportation.

OK...I am still trying to quit laughing long enough to finish this post..............

If you flip back to page A5 there is a whole seperate story from the A.P. whose headline reads...

Few of the 300,00 illegals have left the U.S. as ordered...Under deportation ruling, they simply disappear

Well I think they should first arrest all the protesters and find out how many of them are illegal and dumb enough to show up at the protest. What the hell is wrong with our immigration policy? Who is making the policies...the illegal immigrants? Hell yes, you should have to register, and you should be deported immediately if you violate any laws or conditions of your residency status. I laughed while reading through these stories then it struck me...this isn't funny at all!!! It's damn dangerous and threatens the well being of all of us. We really need to get control of the INS!!!

It wasn't twenty years ago when foreigners in the country had to register ANNUALLY in January. They would run TV commercials to remind people. Somehow people managed to live with that policy of not so long ago, but now it's unfair?

I found this quote from one story at cbsnews.com:
"History will look back on this as an absolute joke," said Kareem Shora, a legal advisor at the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee, after the first round of registrations in December. "We're making enemies of people who should be our friends."

It's a shame that having to register with the INS is seen as "making enemies".

Reminds me of the Leno headline from a year ago. A small town with a minor league baseball team called the Jacks had the following headline:

Baseball Jacks off to Great Start

😀

There was a photo from my hometown paper (Toledo Blade) on Leno once. It was a ground level shot showing police combing an area. The caption underneath was something like, "Police search for bag of money stolen from [insert bank name here] and thrown by suspect during flight." The interesting thing was that in the foreground of the picture, out in the open and clearly visible, was a paper bag with a large stack of bills poking out of the top. Apparently the only people less attentive than the Toledo Police are the Toledo Blade photographers.
