My gf's mom just came back from Ann Taylor earlier this evening, and she got a $129.99 skirt listed at $19.99, and she was surprised to see an extra 40% off making it around $12. She bought 3 things originally totalling $250 for about $40. Really hot!!

Well, you know, I used to wear this stuff when I worked, but since I stay home I find it is just too expensive to dry clean things, no matter how little you pay for them. But, if you work these clothes really cannot be beat because:

1. Everything coordinates, they use the same fabric for most of their black suits, skirts, pants, and dresses, so everything is interchangeable, even when you buy at different stores in different years.

2. Their styling is classic and timeless for basics, so things lay properly, look flattering and make the most of whatever you look like, don't go out of style, and can be used year after year.

3. They do have good sales, and they have some pretty great deals at their outlet stores (case in point, $480 red silk dress with matching dress-length jacket for $30).

So anyway, it isn't necessarily overpriced, it just depends on what you are looking for in the clothes you wear.
