Ann Curry Begs NBC To Release Her From Her Contract

Ann Curry is begging NBC bosses to let her out of her contract so she can accept a high-profile anchor job at CNN. Curry is reportedly earmarked for Anderson Cooper's coveted 8pm slot at the rival TV station by her former Today show boss, Jeff Zucker, who will take over as president of CNN Worldwide in February.

NBC bosses are unwilling to release Curry without a fight.
'If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years'

Curry's lawyers are arguing that her dramatic demotion from Today in April was in fact a breach of her contract terms by NBC.

'Ann's lawyer feels that there is a very strong case to be made that NBC has breached terms of the deal because Curry was demoted from Today.

interesting... Kathy Griffin made a joke about Anderson Cooper leaving CNN during their NYE special last night and he said he had no idea what she was talking about, but seemed really uncomfortable.

I dont see the problem honestly. She went into a contract. She can always breach it and pay for it. Sounds like she wants the best of 2 worlds. Without this clause in terms of time. She wouldnt have been payed as much either.

*sighs*

More cash-mongering crybabies. Deal was signed with $ signs in her eyes... now honor it or face the consequences of a breach.

Simple.

How many people would love to sniff a job like that...

She will be overpaid either way.

Not surprised by NBC attitude though. Corporate people are very spiteful. "We don't want Ann but we don't want anybody else having her either".

Bullshit, CNN is offering her something amazing while NBC isn't. Shoot for the top.

non-compets's should be against the law. What CEO has a non-compete? zero.

I aint a fan of those either. But she did sign the contract herself.

She gets alot of money and dont like the job after some time. Well, talk about first world problems. Millions of americans hate their job too. And they get low pay and not really able to change either ;)

people sign lots of contracts that have un -enforceable clauses in them all the time. Just because a contract is signed doesn't mean it can be upheld.

Non-compete clauses are put into a lot of contracts. They should not be legal though. Making someone sit on the sidelines for 2 or 3 years is just immoral.

NY is a right-to-work state that won't enforce non-compete clauses unless it's to protect trade secrets. I could easily see Ann winning this lawsuit, or in the very least, have the terms severely modified.
