Anker USB 3 Hub Weirdness

I have a system build with an Asus X79-Deluxe mobo and everything has been working very well.

I bought an Anker USB 3.0 hub and when I have the hub plugged into a USB 3.0 port in the back of the mobo the BIOS does not recognize the keyboard, which is plugged into a USB 2.0 port on the mobo. I get a "No keyboard detected" message and cannot get into BIOS setup. When Windows 8.1 boots, it sees the keyboard just fine.

If I unplug the hub, the BIOS sees the keyboard fine and I can get into BIOS setup.

Any idea why this happens and how to fix this?

Hmm, not a clue.
Does it still happen when you tried to plug it once again?
Or have you tried other hubs?

I have (but will send back) the Anker 9-port USB 3.0 hub - however you did not specify which model you have issues with.

My issues mentioned in the feedback at Amazon, but they worsened since the review - mice sends random moves, USB/Ethernet adapter does not work, etc. All of those are not an issue when bypassing the hub.

I do see a certain number of people having similar issues - just look at low-rating reviews at Amazon.
