anisotropic radeon 9700 pro problem

When using Quake3 I get a really weird problem when anisotropic filtering is enabled, when using the following command r_colorMIPLevels 1 it shows that anisotropic filtering isn't any better than bilinear filtering. Does anyone else with a R9700 have this problem? BTW:I'm using the very latest drivers v7.76!

Another problem is taking screenshots with Quake3 with smoothvision enabled causing very bad screen corruption on the screenshot which isn't present onscreen. Is there anyway to correct this?

here is an example of my Quake3 anisotropic filtering problem

In your drivers.. under the opengl tab.. make sure quality is checked instead of performance for anisotropic filtering

ATi's fast anisotropic filtering takes bilinear texel samples which is why the colormip lines make it look like bilinear filtering. However it most certainly isn't bilinear filtering and you'll see how amazing the image quality is if you disable the colormip lines and play the game normally.

If you want trilinear samples instead, use the quality setting in the drivers.

from the looks of it aplication prefrance is checked in those radeon shots, hence q3 is not enableing anisotropy.

Thanks for your help, anisotropic filtering wasn't being enabled correctly, too many options compared to my usual Nvidia display properties. 😀

I like ATi's driver control panel better than nVidia's one because it's better organised and offers more tweaking options.
