Anime people: I have a question

Is there any signifiant meaning towards "blue blood" in anime?

In Evangelion the angels had blue blood.
In RahXephon the Mu had blue blood.
I just started watching Generator Gawl and I notice one of the generations he killed during a test also sprayed blue blood.

I know there are symbols for different things.
Is this another "drop falling into a pond" or am I just trying to read too much into symbolism here?

You could be reading into it too much. I can't really think of anything other than the whole American Southern blue-blood connotations but obviously that probably doesn't have anything to do with Anime. Sorry.

Edit: Hey AgentJean, since you obviously like anime, here's something I was puzzling over. How come scary ghosts and goblins anime set in Tokyo always have something to do with Shinjuku City? I looked it up on Wikipedia but couldn't find any myths related to the area. Wierd huh?

maybe it's because blue is the "opposite" of red. both the agensl and the mu were the other side of humanity. don't know about the generator grawl though because i've stopped watching anime for a while

Ah...I see yet another innocent soul being sucked into the evil web that is anime. I love watching it and have come to the conclusion after years of research? that the point to anime is that there is no point. You keep watching hoping it will all make sense one day but, nope, it never does. So, enjoy the obsession and stop reading into it. 🙂

I found the answer over at Animenewsnetwork.com doing a google search

The term ?blue blood? is used when referring to someone of noble or royal descent, which came from the fact that blue blood veins would stand out more prominently beneath the fair skin of Castile family members. If you think of it in terms of the human race, everyone?s blood runs red when it leaves the body. Bleeding blue blood (or any other color of blood for that matter) automatically distinguishes a person as not being human (or at least completely human). Someone may look and act human, but no amount of words or actions can change the fact that their blood is blue.

Well that's close to what I thought.

Not sure about the blood, but the crazy hair colors seen in lots of anime supposedly come from the manga - sometimes simply a way to distinguish otherwise similar-looking characters in the story, sometimes a way of distinguishing between species (or maybe just people from another planet), like Lum's green hair in UY.

If your looking for a "mind-rape" of an Anime Series get your hands on Paranoia Agent.
That series was more confusing than Lain and made less sence. What's worse is when I saw Serial Experinements Lain it was in Japanese with English subs. I had to watch each episodes twice, but I sort of understood it. I saw Paranoia Agent in a english dub and I still have no idea what it was I just watched.

Oh yeah, there's A LOT MORE to Anime than there is to prime-time American network TV.
