Why don't the characters ever look Asian, but instead are drawn with such huge eyes?
Because Japanese animators feel that the eyes are the most expressive part of the human body (very true), so they draw them biggest in order to convey emotions more easily. Notice the kids often have really big eyes; real babies have large heads compared to their bodies.
The voiceovers are so bad, it makes my gut hurt
Agreed. Watch it in Japanese with subtitles, its much better and maybe you'll even learn a FOREIGN LANGUAGE!
the stories are strange and nonsensical
Some are! Its a different culture they're pandering to, you know. Some of the stories are really good though. Some are good/some bad, kinda like Hollywood.
Why does everyone's hair (especially men's) look like Lisa Simpson's
Because regular hair is boring! I do believe punk hair (pink and spiky) has been around for a long time anyway.
CAN'T THEY SLOW DOWN THE DIALOG???? Everyone talks so fast with no pauses between sentances.....this alone would make the stuff more watchable! "Jolo!Youmustgotothecaves!NoIwillnotleaveyou!Runnow!Huhhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh!Can'ttunanymore.Imuststop..."
Hehe quit watching Speed Racer! I think the Dexter's Lab parody of Speed Racer was hilarious.
I don't think that giant Samari robots that know kung fu are the future
Certainly not for military uses but I have no doubt that (non-giant) versions will be around for toy use. Besides, I doubt that 99% of TV shows and movies about the future are really going to come true.
according to the Star Wars Tech Manual some guy had at work, light sabers are made by projecting energy though a rare crystal that projects a ray shaped force field when activated
Blah blah blah if someone really cared enough to make up a BS explanation for giant robot swords I bet they could do just as good a job with it ;-) I'm sure it took a Star Wars think tank a couple weeks to come up with that one!
Why are a lot of the plots bits and pieces stolen from Hollywood movies
Why are a lot of plots from Hollywood movies taken from other Hollywood movies? Why are they then used over and over?
It's fun to answer questions with more questions ;-)
Watch Trigun- only one giant robot in one episode and a story that changes in scope completely throughout the series.
