Anime: Dub vs Sub for accuracy

Some times both seem to say very different things.

Example S-Cry-ed one scene the dub says "Is he allright" but according to the sub the lines are "um. Have we met".

I'd never watch an anime that was dubbed, but I'm sure subs are more accurate as you don't have to fit words into a certain time frame.

Subs are usually much more accurate. Also, watching anime with the original dialogue and voice actors is the way it was intended to be seen. The inflection, emotion and such are often not reproduced well at all (most of the time they are horrible) in a dub version.

as with any other language, the true meaning of the words can vary with context. both may be accurate in that case.

I too, generally prefer subs to dubs.

dubs make me cry. and if they're really really bad, they make me cry tears of laughter.

I too, generally prefer subs to dubs.

But like the example I gave many times one is clearly not translating it correctly. In no context could both of those two translation be correct. "Have we met" and "Is he alrigh"
