Animation Software

Iam not a professional in this qwestion, but i think that Photoshop is more handly for drawing and making simple animation.
I have tried Macromedia Flash 8, it is quite easy in use and there a lot of guides you can find. I haven't tryed Adobe Flash Profession.. 🙁
 
If you are familiar with adobe photoshop then the best thing for making animations (animated gifs) is "adobe image ready". It has the same interface and uses the same layers setup to work with the different frames of the animation. This is an avatar I use on an automotive forum. 🙂 I made it with image ready:
