NOT!!!......hahahaha, I am definitely not one of those animal rights/PETA whack jobs but I do like animals. That being said I still can't believe what I did this afternoon.
We were at the beach all day and oddly there were long tidal pools about 30 feet inland of the actual shore. They must have been created during the tropical storm/hurricane last month because I have never seen them in Galveston before. Anyway, there was one pool that was about 200 feet long, 20 feet wide, and varied from about 2 to 5 inches in depth.....and there were seven 10-12 inch saltwater catfish swimming in it. It was rather interesting to watch them. As the day went one the pool got very hot from the sun and I realized that those fish would never make it to high tide to escape their prison. I had a cast net with me so I set out to free them. About 30 minutes later I had netted and released all seven fish back into the surf.
Some Canadian (he told me he was from Canada) came up to me and asked me if I was going to eat them
. I kind of chuckled but told him I was merely trying to save them from baking to death in the sun heated water. He told me it didn't seem like it was worth the time it took me to save them.....I simply told him it made me feel good so it was worth it to me. I guess I am getting crazy in my old age but something seemed wrong about leaving them there to die.
