Several days ago, I visited my family as I do every few months. I was fortunate on this occasion as my sister was there to solve all of the world's problems. Normally, they don't discuss politics or religion, mostly out of apathy. She got my back all up this time though. We started with a discussion of how the US maintains a deficit and gets money from lenders. The first alarm went off with the suggestion that we should just print more currency. My sister is 24 years old and grew-up in the United States, attending public school.
Then we moved onto Bill Gates and his charity which is a liberal agenda promotional tool. Wait a minute, it's not. I also heard the suggestion that if Gates really wants to do some good with his money (not curing disease, etc.) he should just fund the war in Iraq. I conceded that I wasn't sure that it was illegal for an individual to wage war against a sovereign nation, but it was illegal for other nations to do. So I would err on the side of caution and say that this would be a bad idea.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to solve the centuries old turmoil in the middle east because my sister didn't know who lives in Israel, but that they are called Israelites (hint: they're Jewish). I think we can knock that problem out next month. It may not be necessary though because a new war strategy was hatched. It goes like this. Since most 'good' people in Iraq have been killed or fled, then its ok to bomb everybody left, all of them. Exterminate the country. At this point, I didn't really feel the motivation to explain that genocide is wrong.
I should also point out that my sister holds a degree in education from a real University. She's also all Jesus'ed up. Fortunately, she only teaches pre-Kindergarten so there's no chance of any of those poor children remembering anything. I might feel like a jerk if I could see this as anything other than intentional ignorance.
