I was screwing around with my fsb and crap trying to see how far i could push my 1 gig. Posted all the way up to 9 x 150mhz, then it said cmos error and tryied looking for something on the floppy. So i shutdown the computer, clear the cmos, and my computer would not psot att all, the moniter light stayed a constant gren for sum reason. A few things when by my mind, did i blow the vid card, the cpu? the motherboard? I was really crapping my pants. I screwed around a half hour and still nothing. Then i broke down and started praying to some make belive overclocking gods i made up in my panicking head, and boom ,she cranked up! Hell yeah!
Maybe they do exist! haha Whatever. Just ffor the hell of it im gonna hold a cermony for my next chip and see if that give it higher overclocking capabilities. ;-()

LOL :D
Maybe you should make up a whole new religion out of this and start preaching on TV. ;)

MortaniuS:

I had that happen on my KT7A alot when I tried to push the FSB too high. I will get that message every time I try to go past 152mhz. There is no need to clear the CMOS when you get that message. I just rebooted, and it reboots with all the defaults loaded in the bios. I just pop into the bios and reset all the settings to my liking...kind of a pain, but it loads the defaults on it's own...no CMOS clear needed. Also, if you go to far overclocking, a nice trick is to hold down the "insert" key when you turn on the PC. It does not always work the first or even the second time, but it will work. It just boots up with the defaults loaded...

The o/c gods are fickle at the best of times:

I can run my Duron750 @ 998 provided I don't want any luxuries, like the ability to boot without having pulled the power cable out of the back of my computer first. It's wierd - I boot with no problems on 9.5*(105) if it starts from having no power cable, but reboot and soft-power are definitely not allowed :( I normally have it at 927MHz (9.0*103) 'cos that's the maximum fully-stable speed it'll manage. The gods only like me sometimes ;)

The gods saved my azz a couple of times! I had problems such as monitor light saying gray and was crapping my pants. I preached and I was saved!

I have a bottle of rum by the computer - when I get a successful boot at speeds above 927, I drink a toast to the gods. If I forget, the system dies like a dog! If I toast them twice, I can get the occasional reboot. If I have half a bottle, the system seems to run faster for some reason. If I have the rest, I get a dual-monitor setup for free %)

Moral of the story: drink to the gods and get a better system

I had the same thing happen with my tbird 900 in a kt7a-raid... In order to resolve I had to boot from a floppy (win98 boot disk) than flash the bios. After that I was fine. I tried clearing the cmos but that diddnt help.

oh man today I was praying to the gods as I thought I'd crushed my duron 750s core on its virgin run.
10 minutes of profuse swearing and ample hardware-themed verse, I came back and went into the bios and discovered that I just had to change the multiplier to be correct. pheew..
thank ye gods heheh
