Man, I am really surprised there are no threads about Angels and Airwaves on here. There is such a huge buzz all over the internet about them. I heard at people talking about AVA 3 times at school today.

Basically, they are a new band made up from members of Blink 182, Offspring, Box Car Racer, and the Distillers. Tom Delonge from Blink 182 kept talking about how this would be one of the most influential bands of all time. Rolling Stone, AP, and several other magazines heard demos and had nothing but praises for them.

I didn't think too much of them, but I really liked Blink 182's later music and hoped it would be good. There was a huge amount of hype building up for months, and I didn't honestly think they could live up to. Well, I was definately wrong. My friend works for Macbeth and he got a cassette with 3 demo tracks on it and they were insane. I believe the songs were Good Day, The Adventure, and The War.

Shortly after that, Good Day and Adventure were leaked onto the internet and everyone went crazy over them. Good Day is great, but the Adventure is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Their site launched last month and it has a cool art design. I have to admit it is pretty slick.

The music just sounds so driving and uplifting. I can't really explain it, the closest band is really Box Car Racer or mature Blink 182. There is some U2 and Cure influence in there too though. It's a refreshing change to have inspiring music.

There are a lot of fakes out there because garage bands are trying to cash in on the publicity. I weeded through everything and got the DL links to all their songs.

Videos:

Adventure Music Video

Good Day Video

Songs: (save as)

The Gift

It Hurts

A Little's Enough

Valkyrie Missle

These are the best quality clips you'll find. Some of them are live off the radio so they aren't complete. The CD isn't out till May 23.

There is also a trailer for their movie. It's about WW2 or something. The instrumentals in that sound very good. I don't know if AVA will be the most influential band in the world, but they certainly are promising and I'll pick their cd up when it comes out.

The music just sounds so driving and uplifting. I can't explain it, but you feel like you are on a jet at the top of the atmosphere when you are listening to it. Very organic similar to U2. I was actually inspired to start playing the piano again after I heard it and I tabbed the who song for the piano. (I have a clip if anybody wants it).

Whatever though, just listen to it and let me know what you think.

so I dl'd some songs from them...listening to the adventure....it's good, I mean, I'd listen to it if I was taking a road trip or something, sounds perfect for that type of stuff....not sure if I'd call it one of the best songs I"ve ever heard....I'll have to let it sink in

Just to note: all those thousands of songs on Limewire are fake. The only leaks right now are Good Day and Adventure. Other people are just trying to cash in on the hype with their crappy local band. In fact, The adventure isn't even the final version (Tom is adding another verse) and he didn't put Good Day on the album because he didn't think it was good enough.

im looking forward to the stuff from Angels and Airwaves (been following them since Tom announced it)... as well as stuff from Plus 44. They got great stuff too, got a good sound to it if you like the type of music. The girl sounds great too.

"No it isn't" was alright (kind of a stab in the back to Tom though). Did they release any new songs yet?

as good as Angels and Airwaves may be, Tom kind of deserves a stab in the back cuz he was essentially the one to cause the band to breakup.
and at the same time.. im kinda glad that blink brokeup.. they were too pop-ish to be called punk, and there later stuff was great sounding... but personally Boxcar Racer should have stayed around. Best sounding work I've ever heard come out from the guys. Hopefully Angels and Airwaves has a sound closer to Boxcar than anything else. It sounds like they just might...
at any rate... no they haven't released anything else other than that one song.

i'll have to agree with you on that. the only decent band on there was offspring and even they haven't put anything decent out since Ixnay on the Hombre.

Definitely not my kind of music, as soon as the vocals hit I thought it was garbage. Just my opinion though.

I thought Travis broke them up because he wanted to see his kids. It was kind of mutual though.

But still, that was a serious low blow. Tom was all set to release his new single on his birthday thinking people would love it, and Mark steals the show by releasing his song at 12:01AM. Not to mention, the first line, "This isn't just good bye, this is 'I hate you'".

Oops, I messed up on the line. It should be, "This isn't just good bye, this is I can't stand you."

There isn't much news on them yet. The cd for AVA comes out in April, not sure about Plus 44. We might see another single while we are waiting. A song is bound to be leaked onto the internet.

I've heard two songs and I see nothing special at all. He really built up the hype and I think most people will agree it won't live up to it once the album is out.

Market it how you want, you can't sell it if you don't have it.
The electronic/instrumental is okay, but as someone else noted, the vocals are very meh.
