In Utter Bliss

My Boston Acoustics BA4800 speakers arrived today.. via UPS.. it was shipped in 5 days... I was surprised what a sh*tty job UPS did in shipping.. the corners of the box was all crumbled, and it was half open..(WTF???)..

First I was surprised by its sheer size.. the box was about 2' x 2' weighing at 25lbs.

I opened up.. Everything was fine.. no damage thankfully..

'Damn~' I awed when I opened up to see the Subwoofer.. It was much bigger than what the picture looked like online. The 4 sats were quite small, about the same size of Creative speakers (I hate them), however, they were mildy heavy for its size.. 'Must be packed with quality' I thought.

It had about 10 cables.. All nicely individually wrapped. (also annoying, because I was eager to just hook it up fast)

It came with a catalog, manual, 4 sats, Subwoofer, cable to power, cable to all 4 speakers, cable from left to right sat, cable for rear to subwoofer, subwoofer to front plugins to Soundcard, subwoofer to back plugins to Soundcard..

I eagerly unplugged my soon-to-be-dead 3 piece Labtec system.. those speakers were quality for $50 I paid.. but it was time for them to go..

10 mins later.. BA4800 was all setup. This was a perfect combination to my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard.. providing best sound quality in decoding and also in hardware by the speakers.

I boot up the comp.. and played a MP3 file quickly. Higher by Creed. The music screamed throughout my basement. I was immediately captured by its clarity. It seemed like those Labtec speakers were so dull. It felt like I've just removed film coverings over my ear, thus fully hearing all crisp clarity sound. That was the sheer difference from Labtec 3 piece to BA4800 4.1 system.

But that was just a beginning. I soon realized, my backspeakers weren't even working at all!! And it still managed to impress my ears.. I immediately opened up Santa Cruz Audio HQ and tweaked bunch of settings.. and optimized it best to my taste.. also ensuring the backspeakers were working as well.. for the full effect.

About 20 mins later.. I decided to settle on this setting: Sensaura 4 speaker mode (with Sub) with 3D separation effect to front two speakers, and light reverb and 'auditorium' effect to the backspeakers.

It was simply amazing.. I was totally immersed in music as the sound surrounded me and I felt like I was in the middle of everything. I awed in utter bliss..

--the end--

I highly recommend this system!!!!! this is $200 retail, and u can have it for $130 shipped nowadays.. BEST $130 I had EVER spent!!!!!!

Boston speakers are great. Computer speakers, home speakers, car speakers. These guys know quality.

I have three pairs in my home theater setup and couldn't be happier with the money I spent on them.

heh. I got the BA4800's about two weeks ago via UPS - corner smashed in, lid harldy sealed, same deal :)

Actually, the company i ordered from sent me two when I only ordered one. I've yet to check if we were charged for it (not my account) ... definitely an interesting series of events regarding these speakers.

Great bang/buck ratio!
