Looks like they their intent is to make android unified among all their devices. Sounds like a good thing.

That's immense. Apparently, he's going to stay on for a different role. We'll see what happens, but I was loving Android's direction with him as lead.

Maybe features and polish will get added at a quicker pace or... I don't even have an idea what this could possibly mean.

I just hope the new guy realizes a phone UI on a tablet was a really dumb idea and fixes it.

And PS. Not particularly sad to see Andy go. Android is awesome on phones. But the tablet experience still leaves a lot to be desired, and with Windows 8 now here, Google might be missing the boat.

Maybe Larry wasn't happen at the pace of things being cleaned up. While ICS was a huge step forward for Android, there's many things they're failing to clean up. Hopefully the new guy will get things right.

Whatever the issues are I hope the new guy does a good job.

Big difference between the dreamer & visionary role and the nuts & bolts making it work and iterating role.

Sounds like they want him coming up with more big ideas and leave the steady progress to an established manager.

I just hope he's actually on the next big thing instead of burnt/pushed out.

Like, you know... Glass.
