Android users - what do you use for USB synch with Outlook contacts?

I know HTC Sync and Kies can synch with Outlook contacts on a PC, but what alternatives are there?

Companionlink doesn't appear to synch with the stock google calendar/contacts.

Missing Sync appears to need to run as an administrator (wtf, it's 2011!).

I found this: http://www.android-sync.com/faq/ but there's precious little feedback on it.

Any other suggestions? I've no interest in synching my contact list with google.

there is an outlook to Gmail program. I want to say its outlooksync or contact sync or something like that.

I used it when I was using the HD2 and it worked well enough.

You can get hosted Exchange with real-time OTA (over the air) Activesync starting at around $5 a month. Email, contacts and calendar all synced to Outlook/Exchange. Love it!

Only thing I use it for is Work so that's OTA ActiveSync native.
I use gmail for everything personal.

For the benefit of anyone else who didn't read the title (or the last sentence), I was looking for options to synch over a USB cable between phone and computer. Not an OTA solution.

Annoyingly enough, Windows Phone 7 allows for this, yet the more mature Android platform does not. Heck, even Symbian allows for this.

I read both your title and your last sentence, and proposed an OTA solution anyway.

Quite often people asking for help don't really know what they want or truly need. So it's actually quite useful in many cases to propose relevant solutions though they may not be a 100% fit for what the person is asking for...

It should be evident from the first two posts that I had done some research on the topic, and know what I want. I synch with Exchange for work email, but not contacts. Therefore paying for hosted exchange is not a cost effective solution in this case.

Pro tip:

When it's relatively easy to disregard advice that doesn't meet your needs (such as on a forum like this one) it's desirable to do so, instead of criticizing those who are trying to help you.

I dont. I go through Gmail and then over wifi. So much simpler and faster. And I will never again go back to Outlook. In fact theres rumors MS will dump it next time around and force everyone to use Live from now on.

Privacy of information aside, I've been in too many situations where a network connection isn't available to rely on the cloud.

gsaldiver - I'll bear that in mind the next time you're looking for relevant advice :)

Well for mobile phones you would just sync contacts once and then everything is on the phone.
Also if you are using Android make sure you look darn closely at the required permissions before you install an app. Theres a crapload of programs out there which "require" access to things they should not access. The fear is they use your personal info to sell to other companies, or worse to perform some identity theft. And that has nothing to do with the cloud. Its all on your phone regardless.
