Android Universal Remote

So I have the HTC One M8 so it has the IR transmitter. I want to have a true universal remote app, specifically so I can control a relatively older Phillips DVD player. Most of the remote apps I am finding specifically work with the big name TV brands and nothing else. Is there a true universal remote app out there somewhere?

Smart IR Remote is the ticket. I've got the HTC One (M7) and I absolutely LOVE this app. It has just about every IR product you can imagine in it's code library, and if it isn't in the library it has a learning function as well. You can customize the layout, create "smart" remotes which control different functions of different products from the same remote. It's definitely worth the $7.
