Android Tablet Question

Since I have no idea where this is supposed to go in the forums (it does not seem to fit in any category) I figured I would ask here. I just ordered an Asus Transformer for my wife (she tried many and that was her favorites). What she needs to do with it is mainly edit word and excel files, as well as finish up her dissertation and do some web surfing. So, my question is what paid or free app works the best for editing MS office documents?

Tablets just aren't made for PRODUCING. They're made for CONSUMING.

Technically, you *can* do it...but it's probably going to be an aggravating experience.

If Google Docs works, I'd probably use that instead of using an app.

Google Docs should be ok for word document creation. It also allows creation of excel-like spreadsheets. It's free so that's a bonus. There's an app but she can also access Google Docs from the browser and work in that environment.

The tablet also comes with an app called Polaris Office that offers the ability to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations. I haven't tried it yet, but it may be decent for what she needs.

If you do a search for Spreadsheets in the marketplace, there appear to be a handful of options there. Not sure if any of them are tablet-optimized at this point yet.

The keyboard dock will make things much better, I'm sure. I don't have one, though.

I don't have the keyboard dock but writing anything with the touchscreen keyboard is a total PITA.

Lenovo is coming out with a Thinkpad tablet that seem to have the best functions as compared to the other 10" Android Tablets.

It comes with Office compatible full app., and an optional keyboard portfolio.

Unlike the Transformer that the keyboard includes spare battery and other stuff. Thus while being useful make the transformer as Big and heavy like a NetBook, the Lenovo Keyboard is just a thin keyboard attached to the cover of the case, it adds very little to the weight and size of the Tablet so when needed it can easily be carried and be used everywhere.

Documents to Go is pretty good. It's like $15.

The key to writing a lot on any Android device is swype.
