(reviews say don't use the software that comes with it... malware)

Torque is the one you're after. They have both free and paid versions. I have used both. I think the pro version adds live monitoring of certain modules, but the free may do that so I can't recall. But Torque is most definitely what you want.

Torque is the way to go. Would suggest getting the paid version since it's fairly cheap and supports a quality product.
