Can you folks share some links to guides and resources for this stuff? I looked for Droid rooting stuff, found a thread on an Android forum, but seems a lot of people posting in the past few weeks were having trouble.

I would be interested in tethering and overclocking in particular. What other cool shit can I do with this stuff?

Droid root pro is only $2.99 in the market and will get you everything you need.

Otherwise go to alldroid.org and start reading.

It's very easy to do and can be done for free if you just read up on it a little.

I think I borked my mytouch. I took it back to 1.5, flashed it, and now I'm stuck on the boot screen.

What's the effect of overclocking on battery life? Certainly it goes down but how much? Smartphones don't exactly conserve much battery to begin with. Throw in overclocking... well?

Also the Droid gets hot under use doesn't it? And at 950mhz? lol....

been running a rooted G1 with cyanogen since last year. still wish it had a faster clock speed(compared to the droid) but i've been happy with it. i'm tempted to learn the swap partitions to make it even quicker but jesus i spent a good 10 hours rooting my g1 when i first got it. coming from zero experience with android it was a pita but i'm glad i learned how.
