So if one goes from a WM phone to this phone, how will this sync with Windows operating system? Right now I sync all my OUTLOOK stuff (contacts/phone numbers/to do list/calendar) to my phone. I take it that will not be the case with Android? What about apps, no windows apps for WM will work on this phone? I can only imagine the applications are limited at the moment for android.

-Depending on your phone, many Android phones sync with exchange. To just sync with Outlook, I believe there are apps on the market to do that. Android by default syncs with google (and exchange on all but the G1/myTouch).
-No, Windows Mobile apps do not work on Android, however, there are about 15,000 or so apps on the Android Market, so I wouldn't really call it limited.

Its been out for over a year now, and the development platform is very open - and since its inception, the Android Market has existed, which provides a much greater incentive to develop for the platform.

Not only has it been public for over a year, but before the official release developers were already making lots of stuff for it. And I used to be a real Outlook lover, but I am starting to like the whole cloud computing concept better (as time goes on and it improves).
Syncing with your Gmail account is actually easier and using Gmail for all your stuff is nice. You can check it all from any computer, any time. You dont have to be sitting in front of your home computer.
I'm not sure how this whole Windows Live nonsense compares, and since I dont need it I'll probably never know. Android isnt quite as comprehensive as WebOS, but its more than good enough for me. I gave up my G1 but will be getting either a Hero or The Droid sooner or later.

Can an Android phone do these 3 things ?

1. join a Windows network workgroup via WiFi and browse public folders ?

2. print via a Wifi network ?

3. tether to give a Windows laptop internet access ?
