I'm out of the loop on phones these days, and I'm looking for an upper mid-range non-halo phone to replace my >3 year old HTC One that has served me well. It'll be running on US/Verizon network. Looking to spend $200ish but up to 300 if it's worth it. Beyond the normal calls/text/surfing uses, features I'd like:
Fingerprint recognition
Good battery life (often used as a GPS for outdoor adventures)
Clean UI (Android 6 preferred)
Medium screen size/weight
Durable. I'm not too rough on phones, but it will get dropped at some point (Gorilla Glass a plus)
Good camera (but doesn't need to be top end, front facing camera too but I've taken all of 6 selfies in the last decade)
Don't need tons of RAM/Storage
No brand loyalty. I really dug the ol' One, but I know HTC isn't what it once was. NO APPLE. I'm totally fine (and prefer) going outside the normal offerings at the dealers.

Aaaand, GO!

I've been looking at the used LG G5. I'd probably get one today if I were in the market. Most interesting thing is the removable battery.

I'm still on a note 4. It is decent I guess though the audio quality of built in speakers could be better. Any ways I would drop in the store and take a look. The obvious choices are LG, Samsung and/or Google Pixel. Then pick a model based off of trade off (audio, sd slot, removable battery, screen, size). No phone will be perfect :)

Verizon is one of the carries that use CDMA in the USA ? Do you mind importing phones ? Because there are great Xiaomi Phones with excellent specs/price.

Odds are they won't support LTE on Verizon bands, though, which makes them virtually useless in the US.
