I have a feeling that we're going to see Android hacked into more and more devices just because people can. It's pretty crazy to think people just do this in their free time (usually).

The HD2 is a pretty enticing phone to hack, it has great specs, it's cheap, and shipped with an end of life OS (the factory OS is crap too, lots of little bugs).

Although, with a Sense front end on it, WM 6.5 is pretty good.

I got tired of reinstalling all of my apps and am using titanium backup, will see how it works when I reinstall Android next time...

I just updated to Froyostone last night. HUGE improvement in all areas. Everything is smoother & more solid, some of the odd issues (button backlights always on, notification light blinking no matter what) are gone, available memory is nearly double. Awesome work by darkstone.

I installed this build too(non sense one) and its more solid all around.
One thing I do wish is these guys acn fix the low sound volumm although its not a deal breaker by any mean.
My favorite is still shubCRAFT version that incorporate CyanogeMod theming in its build.
Its not as solid but I like the visual better and hes constantly is making his build better.

The one HUGE thing I miss from the HD2 is the home page Weather animation. I haven't been able to find anything close on android :(

The lack of apps, though, is too big of a deal.

I'm actually finding that I can't find Android apps that are as good as the WM version yet.

1. AlReader2 for reading various txt/doc/epub/etc files with good controls. FBReader comes close, but it doesn't support txt or doc.

2. Total Commander as file manager with samba network support. ES File Explorer is close, but it doesn't has as much controls or let me assign file associations.

3. TCPMP as media player for nearly all video formats. Rockplayer doesn't come close yet since it can't set itself as default media player. Also I can't stream any files from server or open files directly from another file manager. I can only play files accessed within Rockplayer. And, that annoying 'R' logo at the top when it's fullscreen.

I thought the Froyo w/ Sense also had animations? Though a bit smaller?

I've had the Froyostone on for a few days now and I don't like it.
Sometimes I have to press the button a few times to get it off sleep mode. And the screen is non responsive often.
I'm going back to shubcraft version.

It does, but it doesn't approach to the beauty of the HD2 animation. You can't really understand how awesome it looks without actually seeing it first hand.

I'm looking at it right now. :) I don't think the Windy animation has ever come up though..

I just couldn't remember the Android Sense version since I usually have a live wallpaper and it was a couple of days ago when I last tried Android.

I tried the new FroyoStone builds, both versions (Clean/Sense), and wasn't really a fan. The Sense UI looked nice, but was far too slow for my liking - even in the "Clean" version (the messaging app, for example).

I like the standard Froyo interface anyway, so I'm back to the 7/26 Darkstone build (plus FullRAM kernel, graphics fixes for said kernel, GPS fix etc.). It's really fast...much faster than WinMo ever was on this phone. I'm eagerly awaiting the day when I can completely banish WinMo from my phone :)

I totally agree.
The original Darkstone build was much better.
My only problem with that build was sometimes I had to boot it 2-3 times to get into Android(screen of death).
The shubcraft build is good too(based on the nexus froyo instead of the desire froyo).
