Hmm, ok, well I'll have to think about that, or maybe the other app will help with that. I'm only really near wi-fi at home, or in Starbucks or Whole Foods I guess, so I would be toggling it back on all the time. :hmm:

wifi location doesn't require you to be actually connected to a wifi network.

as long as your phone can SEE wifi networks, it will probably be able to pull a location off of google's wifi location database.

and these days, wifi is pretty much visible everywhere.
 
My advice, at this point: never turn wifi off, ever. The usefulness for location outweighs the battery cost of the periodic hotspot scan.
 
Cool, I had no idea it could work that way. It sounds like I can safely turn off GPS for the most part and I will look at Tasker for this and other stuff that may be useful to toggle.
