Android db reducer app?

Are there any apps that can reduce the input db level when recording video or audio? I go to alot of local dirty-punk shows and often use my Droid X to record some of the songs but when they play-back, the audio crackles from the db level input being too high.

The tiny mic inside the phone is probably not even able to capture sound at extreme volume, so may not really be an input level issue. Even if you could capture without distortion, you would end up with a mono recording at best. I'd try upgrading to a high quality mic plugged into the audio jack instead, or use a digital camera made for that purpose.
