OK, I thought this was just an issue for AACs on Eclair, but I see that Froyo has broken WMA tag-reading too (it also actually broke AAC *playback*, but that seems to have been fixed). Mind = blown. Yes, if your entire collection is on mp3 you're OK, but it's absolutely ridiculous for a relatively mature media platform to botch m4a and WMA tags. My dumbphone handled this stuff!

As a recent comment to the bug report said, "I think its about time maybe someone went to some of the gadget press and websites about this issue." Meanwhile I'm looking at playback apps that do their own tag-reading...

I hear ya. I have a vibrant and other than tag issues I had some issues using artist list mode. I would just not list by artist. Kept crashing. After searching and searching I found out a. either a file/folder structure was too long or b. tag in a file was either corrupt or contained unrecognizable character. it was a real pita locating the files, but it finally worked. you would think shit like this would have been taken into consideration long ago. I have an old portable mp3/cd player from almost 10 years ago that worked flawlessly.

no kidding?

I thought I failed at setting up the tags right. It wasn't just me being stupid?
