I love my Motorola X2. Absolutely would not trade it in for an iphone.

have you used one?

I've gone through 2 android handsets, both high end and low end. Plus 2 android tablets, not the cheap $100 shits, full size 10 inch models.

I can't stand using them for more than a few minutes, it frustrates me, I don't even want to touch them to be honest.

Lol yes I have. My fat fingers couldn't operate the damn thing to save my life. The virtual keyboard on my X2 is ungodly bigger compared to that of the iphone and I still mistype about one out of every 20 letters. Even if I liked iOS better, the phone is absolutely unusable in my hands.

My X2 hasn't frozen in 2+ months, and has slowed down maybe twice in that time frame. The screen is awesome, and battery life hasn't been a problem for me. Call quality is good, and everything works just fine on it.

Browsing the internet is incredibly smooth as well, and text is formatted pretty amazingly whether reading news articles or emails.

Having all of my contacts automatically backed up through my gmail account is pretty awesome as well, installing google sync on the iphone was a pain in the ass (this was 6 months ago, maybe they made it easier).

This. Stop pushing BS Apple propaganda on this forum.

Here's my Android propaganda:

http://expertscolumn.com/content/why-android-better-iosiphone

"feel free to disagree, but please state some counter points." lmao

1. a back button's lame imho, I hate the fact my Android phone has 4 buttons, 3 of which which I don't use.

2. GREAT point, piss poor example though as Safari >>>>> any other mobile broswer

3. good point, but I don't exactly agree that Android's WebOS like notification system is amazing. I have notifications disabled because they annoy me though.

4. fuck Widgets

5. solid point, except I'm out of memory on my Android phone, even with 6 gigs of my 16gb sd card free. Because I have a decent number of installed apps that don't support app2sd. Currently I have just over 12 megs free on my phone. I'd rather have 16 gigs of internal memory where I didn't have to worry about if an app can be moved to external memory or not. But that's just me *shrug* And yes there are A LOT of apps that don't support being moved to an sd card. I can install any app that installs to SD, but I'm screwed if it can't.

6. good point

7. LULZ wut? HOW is doing something manually quicker than syncing? This is the dumbest point I've ever read. Forget the fact if you want to you can drag in drop directly in iTunes.
8. There's NOTHING good that can be said about the Android market, NOTHING. It needs to be burned to the ground and re-made from scratch. I'm not saying anything about the actual apps on it, but the market itself is a steaming pile of flaming hot feces.

9. I installed Flash on my Android phone, and I uninstalled it an hour later.

10. This is not a plus for either, at least Apple tends to draw serious developers. But in the end the Market has a million crappy live wallpapers, where the App Store has a million fart apps. This point's a wash at best.

11. The built in email clients for both suck sweaty balls. If anyone could look at me with a straight face tell me (lie) that either are good, I would want to slap them. They're equally horrible.

12. Ah yes! $1 as opposed to free. Where the "free" one has ads that take up a quarter of the screen. $1 also gets you a solid 60fps, where the Android version's locked @ 30. Smother gameplay with no ad's for a buck seems like quite a deal, but what do I know?

It's all about WebOS, a shame it never caught on because it spanks iOS & Android big time.

Fair enough, glad you enjoy yours, I've got an evo running cm7 and I just want to throw it against the wall.

In the intro sentence, the author states: "post-PC devices."

This is all I need to read to know that article is full of shit, cocked up by an uninformed idiot.

Hmmm. I read the OP, gave it a fair thought, and I'm not too worried. Google will keep Android around, it's in their best interest.

Really? Why? The idea that we're rapidly entering a "post-PC" world doesn't strike me as ludicrous.

I <3 my EVO running CM 7.1. Although I'll admit that I did have to wipe it and reconfigure the apps, when I titanium restored the app data from another ROM it caused all sorts of slowness. Clean wipe and reconfigure and it's running like a pro. Except battery life, but that's plagued this phone for forever.

Thats why PC sales were down 6% during the holiday quarter......
(Mac sales were up 21% but that is another discussion)

does that include parts people buy individually to build their own PCs?

agreed, but those cheap $100 tablets do more harm than good, they dilute the android brand image. Imagine someone trying out android for the first time on those tablets, the user experience will suck, apps will run slowly or not at all, they will inevitably ditch it and chances are switch to iOS as their next device.

This is why apple exerts a draconian control over iOS, they want to ensure a satisfying end user experience, build brand perception.

I dont disagree...
I just question which is worse...
not having a market segment and ignoring sales, or avoiding the market segment where it feels you are selling a crippled device.

(EG do you sell the celeron or not?)

Can you explain to me what "post-PC" even means? What definition of Personal Computer are we using?

To me Laptops, desktops, tablets, and smartphones. Different devices and no one is a replacement for the other.

Should have released an OS called "robot" (exact same thing, just a different name) for those products that don't "meet ANDROID 2011" quality standards; then up the requirements each year for approval.

It's a bit more expensive than the crappy Iphones but the HTC XE (android 4.0) i use is better than any other phone i've ever had and my last phones before this one were Iphone 3GS and Iphone 4S.

It's WAY faster in both running programs (it's like night and day, like a ten year old computer compared with a brand new one, that dualcore does help) and on the net with 21Mb connection speeds if you aren't out in the woods.

Iphones are a dying breed, they are great for the Apple lovers that don't care about technology, software or build quality (hold it wrong and you lose reception, talk about horrible build quality, the brain dead person who thought that would be a good idea should have been fired when he came up with it) but only the brand name.

Kinda like how some idiots will do squats in crappy shoes like Nikes because they like the brand even if the shoe is useless for the job.

I don't like any of the mobile O/Ss. They're magic on a phone that fits in your pocket, but just a gimped shadow of a real O/S on anything with size. I like my $70 Android tablet, but just for the fun of hacking on it. If I want to do any real work, I'll take my netbook every time.

Using MIUI ICS (ice cream sandwich) latest version for Droid X. I am a complete power user. I have used pre-froyo, froyo, gingerbread, and CM7 roms.

I need stability, battery life, and reception above all others. Give yourself a month on MIUI ICS and tell me that you think Apple has anything over this rom, and android phones in general. Great battery life. I never reboot the damn thing. And my reception is better than any phone I have used before.

Droid X has been one of the best products I have ever purchased. (My micro SD card failed on me, but Motorola replaced it in that first year without a second thought.)

You think Android will die? The only thing that could kill Android would be Apple winning a lawsuit against it. Otherwise I see Android's marketshare going higher in the next decade.

Have you tried Debian for MIPS? I assume that is what you have? I haven't but i might do so if i get the time, since i'm retired i should have more time than i do... i wonder where all those endless hours of doing nothing went?

I must say that i'm fairly impressed with 4.0, it's not a full OS but with enough tweaking it can be.

I completely agree that a netbook is far superior for actual work though.

I have found that deadlifting without straps makes my thumbs more accurate though... lol

Android's growth is already slowing.

What's really going to put the hurt on Android is Microsoft is about to start writing checks to carriers saying that when someone walks into a store, recommend WP7 over Android. Given the same (or even lesser) hardware WP7 rapes Android in every conceivable way.

I am a Blackberry user (love the keypads) with no desire to purchase an iPhone or Android phone and previously did not care about either OS. My exposure to iOS is very limited, having only used an iPhone or iPod Touch a few times, and each experience did not make an impression on me.

Tablets were my introduction to Android. I purchased a refurb Nook Color from B&N for $150 and have CM7 running on it. The user experience so far has been fantastic and apps run with no issues. With that said, it's not perfect (not a fan of the sliding notifications).

Thanks to my Android experience with a "cheap $100 tablet", if an Android phone with a BB style keypad were to be released, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Not really, what is going to hurt Android is that the market is full right now, they need a new bright shining model which i think is their intent and thus they bought Motorola.

WP7 is a HORRIBLE OS that is so unsupported as of yet that it will need at least five years to even start being comparable. by then it will be WP9 and embraced by no one.

People are already familiar with Android and IOS, MS has created the problem that Linux has had for a long time, why would you spend time to learn something new when what you have is great?

WP lost somewhere around 2000-2001 and has never been able to recover.
