Is going to take forever, Android tablets have sucked because they use blown up phone apps, now they need to scale up to a larger landscape display and add in keyboard & mouse support?

At least the Google apps should work well for the immediate future, I hope.

The other interesting thing will be if Google ports this to the Chrome browser.

Why is every app going to be full screen? Other than games, video, and certain productivity apps, you'd run many of them in a window.

They had Android apps running in the Chrome browser first, but the experience was poor and it had little developer support. The new initiative is basically an Android chroot for ChromeOS relying on the Linux commonality rather than the browser. I expect performance to be excellent, and for developers to soon make "desktop" apps for Android designed for use in ChromeOS.

The videos I've seen suggest the performance is excellent, hopefully the potential market and income will encourage developers to tweak their offerings quickly.

I think I'll be grabbing one as a laptop replacement, I pretty much live in a browser anyway, apps will make a Chromebook pretty attractive, and I have 20 gigs of data + 10 GB/month to tether with.

Which Chromebook has the best build quality outside of the Pixel?

Be careful getting any random Chromebook. Here is the list of compatible ones:

The Samsung Chromebook 3 looks like a front runner for me, last one I tried was a Toshiba that started losing keys the first week.
