My parents made the leap from non-data phones to Acer Liquid MT's and I'm wondering if there are any apps that older people tend to use? I'm not familiar with Android apps at all.

What's a good weather app?
Is there anything for golf updates/highlights?
Best music streaming app?

The Weather Channel is free I believe.
Pandora and Slacker Radio are both good streaming apps.
Not sure about Golf.

weatherbug is another good weather app, it has a nice radar view which I find useful.

pandora and slacker are good "streaming radio" apps. if you want to stream stuff from your home computer, try out audiogalaxy (free) or subsonic (10 bucks i believe)

Sportstap tracks golf scores (along with the major sports), though I don't follow golf so I'm not sure how useful it is for that specific sport, but it's free.

tunein radio will let them listen to local stations on their phone as well, including your local NPR and the like.

edit: forgot that NPR has their own app which is nice.

NPR! I listen all the time. If I miss Wait Wait Don't Tell Me or Car Talk on a weekend before the podcast is out, I can catch a later broadcast of the show. Also NPR related, the Science Friday app. It's really just a specialized podcast app that only plays SciFri episodes, but it's low-hassle.

AK Notepad allows you to put notepad widgets on your homescreens so you can remember important things like what your name is, which pills you have to take, etc.

Download Xiialive and search for "old time radio". :)

Google Latitude is nice if they have non-paranoid family members that want to opt-in so they can see each other on Google Maps.
