Android 5 and HTC One (M7) - Lost my Text Message ring tone option

It appears that I have lost the option to have a different notification sound for text messages and all other apps that notify me....which is how it used to be. I don't like that I can't differentiate from Text's and say the NHL app now.

Any fix for this?

I'm not understanding your problem. Isn't app notification is always set from the app itself and has nothing to do with the general setting?

What is different from before in Settings - Personalize and Settings - Sound & notification?

There used to be an option under Sound and Notification for Text Message, now there is not. All notifications use the same sound now.

If there is a way to set up individual apps, please let me know.

5.0 includes an option for "priority alerts". Settings > sounds and notifications > Application notifications

Lolli lets you turn on and off notifications for each app, set times for groups of apps to alert and an option to turn off all but "priority alerts". I do not like this feature.

Oh I see. I use Hangouts so I setup my text notification sound from within Hangouts.

Most apps that provide notification should have their own notification settings, so you could change their notification sound from the settings within the app.

Priority alerts have nothing to do with the OP.

You set text notification sounds from within the app itself. It's been that way forever. At least for me. What app are you using?

If you don't have the SMS designated as a priority, it very well could.

You could always try to be helpful instead of focusing on being a jerk. It would add some quality to this forum.

In case you weren't clear what I was suggesting, you could change the notification note from your *other* apps to differentiate the tones. In your example this would mean from the NHL app you mentioned. This is how I always setup notification tones.

I have gone through my phone and for the life of me cannot figure out how or where to find the setting to change individual app notification sounds. The only stand out options are Ringtone, Notifications, and Alarm.

Any insight would be great.

The individual app is the one providing that feature (if such exists). So you run the app, and go to its Settings. It's obviously going to be slightly different depending on the app.

Thanks. I went through the actual app and changed the notification settings.

For the record, I have never had to do this, there has always been a separate notification option for text messages in previous HTC Android releases.

Probably Sense moving closer to stock in that regard. I don't have an HTC device currently, so can't confirm.

The issue wasn't that it wasn't making a sound. It was that it sounded like all the others. Priority notifications have nothing to do with that.

I can't help that you chose to be offended by my statement of fact. Did I insult you? Did I tell you that you were stupid? No, and no. I simply that priority notifications have no bearing on the problem. And they don't. Was I curt? Yes. That's not the same thing.

If you can't handle being wrong, that's not my problem.
