Firstly, I did search here and read what I could from various other places already, I really do need your help. My problem is this, I got a Moto X yesterday and updated it to Kitkat. I'm now noticing that Push Notifications either are not working or that they don't work similarly to what I am used to in iOS.

My two biggies are Facebook and Facebook Messenger. I am not getting notified that topics have been replied to on Facebook (on iOS, there'd be a red circle with a number in it that corresponds to the number of notices), same with Facebook Messenger. I use those apps heavily to keep up with my family (kids and sisters all over the place) and a group of ultrarunners that I train and race with, so it'd be nice to know when my attention was required.

I've looked everywhere in the settings for Android and the apps themselves, notifications are definitely ON. Any ideas I can try to get them working or am I looking for something I'm not going to get? TIA guys/gals.

Clear the app data and uninstall the app then reinstall it.
The god damn app works too well for me. I comment on one person's post and get updates days after that I don't really want!

Ok, I'll try that. I did clear the app data, but then just restarted and fed it my credentials.

I guess you could also giving removing the FB account and adding it back too.

I have an issue with the Hangouts app that it shows I have a notification on the led light if I close out of hangouts before a message is actually transmitted. I press the send button and then turn the screen off. If I don't exit the app by clicking the back button until gone I get a notification light on my note 2.

Very frustrating. Never had that problem until the recent updates. If anyone has a similar problem let me know.

That happens when you clear program data, at least it did on my phone. - to Graze.

drbrock, I haven't used Hangouts yet. I'll keep an eye out for similar behavior on my Moto.

Uninstall, reinstall. I believe push notifications like GCM are registered to an Android-id. So if you migrate to a new phone, flash a new ROM, etc, sometimes restoring that account info/app will cause notifications to fail. Reinstalling the app, setting up the account again feeds GCM with the updated android ID.

Ok, I've uninstalled and reinstalled. We'll see what happens next.

That worked, but I also noticed that the Push Notifications don't work the same as what I'm used to in iOS. No big, I'm adapting.
