Looks like 4.2.2 update is rolling out to all Nexus devices. Supposedly Bluetooth audio streaming bug is fixed. It's pretty big update at 50mb. LTE is removed from Nexus 4 but it's simple to add back in. Simple flash of the old radio will restore it. Google hasn't released the change log yet. Post your general impression.

What exactly was the bluetooth streaming bug? I'm trying to decide if I should flash the stock rooted rom on my N4 or just wait for it to get rolled into a custom rom.

You might want to change your wording to:

"Looks like 4.2.2 update is rolling out to all Nexus devices except the GNexus LTE."

:p

Also, I miss having the latest and greatest. Are there any phones that are rootable/hackable on VZW that can be updated to 4.2.2? I believe the Note 2 might be possible. I had the Galaxy Nexus, but I couldn't stand the battery life and signal of that guy.

I miss 100% stock Google. >_<

Hasn't hit my Nexus4 or Nexus7. AndroidPolice has a great breakdown of the various new features.

On a side note, Google Search updated, independent of 4.2.2 and they removed the weather to website feature that let's you slide the hours of the day for the weather. With the new update, if you click the weather card, it pops the card up and google search results below it.

Other other side note, DashClock is awesome. Clock, weather, count of unread emails, texts, next calendar appointment, and missed calls. Click the weather icon and it brings you to the website weather that was implemented before the Google Search update.

There are already custom roms available on it too, but it does disable LTE for those in Canada - would need to flash back the old radio.

Yeah I noticed the weather thing to and I don't like it, you can still go to your browser and type in weather to get the same thing but I liked being able to go straight there from Google now.

LTE is removed from Nexus 4
Hah. I knew it. Glad I finally changed to a different phone, with official LTE support.

I guess that also likely confirms why Google removed all the Nexus 4 stock firmwares online too.

Hmm.. so now Google hosts the stock ROM for N4? To root or not to root.. that's the question.

Well it seems like the msm_hsic_host wakelock has been reduced at least, it's a much smaller percentage for me now after putting on 4.2.2.

It involved flashing a single zip to get it back. Takes 30 seconds.

Used LTE today on a 4.2.2 rom for a bit testing.

I hope they fixed whatever causes mine to start playing Spotify out the device speaker when I shut off my car. The GNex never did that. I have to remember to manually pause it when I exit the vehicle otherwise a minute or two later (about as I'm walking inside my destination) whatever I was playing resumes at full volume from my pocket. Highly annoying. Particularly since it works correctly when I unplug headphones - It pauses and never resumes.

Well, I'm confused. How do you get a custom recovery without rooting?

Custom recovery can be applied via flashboot/adb. You don't need to root to have a custom recovery. The only reason you need root is if you want to essentially be an admin/superuser while Android is booted. Recovery can flash files to change things you can't change while the phone is booted.

Custom recoveries can actually almost be used 100% without root, but it would make absolutely no sense (to me anyway).

I put it on my GNex, I got really bad signal jumps with the old radio. Sitting in one spot my phone would have zero bars then jump to 4 then back to 1 the signal was all over the damn place. Really eats my battery when I'm at home, at work my signal is great all the time which makes no sense to me at all. Still not enough for me to get rid of this phone, pure google is the way to go with android.
