i never got it too often because when i did, they made the point.

or rather, dad did. i had to fake a cry when mom did it, so it was rare, but my dad? christ, he knew what he was doing and it took. they couldnt give me a "time out" or send me to my room, i occupied myself to easily and it didnt affect me as a punishment.

but a paddle? i took the trash out after that one....always

Our kids are messed up because corporal punishment is outlawed in public schools?
  1.
Our kids are messed up because liberal ideas about personal responsibility have taken root. Kids are taught that "the man" is always to blame, and responsible for all life's ills. "The man" should be made to create a job for you, and keep you employed no matter what your work ethic, or lack thereof. It's big business and society's duty to pay for your health coverage, and look the other way if you run afoul of the law.

Discipline is NOT synonymous with corporal punishment. Discipline is something responsible people teach their children, so they will grow up to be responsible! It's NOT the responsibility of the village to discipline YOUR kids!

So then do we beat the parents who dont teach their children discipline?
If the parents dont do their job, someone else has to... other wise the children often become criminals anyways.
