not a MS hater or fanboy, but did you guys ever think that since IE is tightly integrated into the OS, that the memory/footprint might be offloaded to other DLL or EXE files? just a thought...

i think firefox takes ~60MB on memory too
the flash ads is a bitch... and 64mb is not a lot now seeing how 512mb and 1GB systems are the norm...
does anyone know how much ie will take?
Wow, a little criticism for Mozilla and the namecalling begins. How typical of fanboys.Originally posted by: Schadenfroh

Wow, a little trolling and fanboyism and the namecalling continues. How typical of counter-fanboys.
Address the possibility of OS integration hiding memory footprint. Now.

Its mine against firefox. So much memory useage then gets slow when responding.

Are you sure that any speed or lack thereof is simply not what you wish to perceive? And if it is not only that, how can you demonstrate this?
Errr, I intend to run the OS regardless, so your point is...?Address the possibility of OS integration hiding memory footprint.

Errr, I intend to run the OS regardless, so your point is...?Address the possibility of OS integration hiding memory footprint.Big picture: with most of us having 512MB+ of RAM here, hopefully 40MB one way or the other to use the browser you happen to prefer is not a big deal.
Launch speed remains an issue with alternate browsers, at least where I work. Nothing can touch IE in that department, especially when there's strong antivirus/anti-intrusion software checking everything on execution.
Hahaha. I use Firefox and Mozilla both, not to mention Thunderbird, I'm just not an anti-MS snob like some people. Address that.Originally posted by: bersl2

There's always Opera It's a hell of a lot faster on my lower end machine as well as some other <500MHz systems.
It also renders most pages faster than FireFox, so
