Speaking of eggnog, it might be a little late to start on this(needs a day to set), but just in case, I present this years' version of
[/i]Coquito's Coquito[/i](v.2.1):
hardware:
Blender
Coffee grinder
zester or cheese grater
can opener
small bowl
small pot
a few clean teaspoons
Magnum-sized glass bottle & cap
hi-ball glasses
funnel(optional)
neon crazy straws(optional)
ingredients:
wet
1(12oz) can of evaporated milk
1(14oz) can of cream of coconut(not coconut milk)
1(14oz) can of sweetened condensed milk
1/2 can(6-7oz) of coconut milk(or water, but since you bought these by mistake, use one)
2 extra large egg yolks
1 1/2 - 2 cups dark rum(not white, not gold, but brown), this year's choices: Bacardi Select/Myer's Dark
beer
dry
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, & a few cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves(grind up fresh cloves using your coffee grinder). Don't put much more or that's all you will taste.
1/2 a nut of ground nutmeg(pre-ground really sucks)
1 vanilla bean(or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract)
tiny tiny pinch of salt
directions
Pour your beer into your favorite glass.
Separate & whip up egg yolks & condensed milk atop a pot of hot water using the double boiler method(save the whites for an omelet or something). Slowly drizzle in the condensed milk & stir rapidly to keep the eggs from cooking. Once hot to the touch, carefully take the bowl off the pot & dump contents into your blender.
Drink your beer.
Scrape the meat off the vanilla bean & add to the blender(Save the bean to marinate in completed mixture overnight). Use your coffee grinder to destroy the cloves. Use your zester or cheese grater to saw-off a small pile of nutmeg. Add all the measured amounts of salt, spices, & can contents to the blender.
Leave the blender on liquefy for 2-3 minutes while you finish your beer.
Grab the clean/empty bottle, remove the pour spout, & fill. Use the funnel if necessary. Stick the remaining vanilla bean in there. Replace the pour spout & can. Shake, & store in the back of your refrigerator for at least 24 hours where it will settle & thicken.
Shake bottle again upon serving. Remove vanilla bean if possible. Use the optional cinnamon sticks & a small sprinkle of cinnamon as garnish.
