LocaL: Oil in home baffles officials
By JOHN LYNCH
Oil hell broke loose at a Spring Hill home Monday. Firefighters and oil company workers were working late into the night to figure out why.

All Liela LeTourneau knows is that when she got home from work about 5 p.m., she found two trails of crude oil had dribbled from the front door of her 2-year-old house on Terri Lynn Drive ? not that she knew what it was.

"There was this black coming out from my house. I thought, ?What have I left on? What has my son left on that's spilled over?? " she said. "I thought it might be from the washing machine."

But opening her front door, her nose told her something else ? it was the distinct pungent aroma of crude oil.

"There is black oil on my beige carpet," she said. "You smell petroleum the minute you open the door."

The crude appears to have streamed out of the home's two toilets and sinks, leaving behind stinking bathroom-sized puddles an inch deep that also seeped into the carpets of adjacent rooms, turning them into a squishy, slimy mess.

From the TV show:
Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol Jed's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said "Jed move away from there"
Said "Californy is the place you ought to be"
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.

Hills, that is. Swimmin pools, movie stars.

Ah, but that's zoned for residential. She's not going to be able to sell the land like ol' Jed did.
