the UC application wants me to rank the 6 schools in order of preference and i was wondering if anyone here goes to UCSD and can give any first-hand information about the different colleges.

im reading about their philosophies and everything, but its always nice and more accurate to hear it from actual people that attend the school. no BIAS please- although that is probably unavoidable (understandably). thanks!

Uhhhh he means the 6 colleges in UCSD.

I put Muir first. It really just depends what you wanna do. Muir and Warren have a lot of engineers because the GE requirements are minimal. ERC has like uber GE requirements along with Revelle....

I go to UCSD. I don't know a ton about all of the colleges, but I go to Warren. Warren has the least number of requirements to graduate. Revelle has the most. If you like art go with Sixth. If you go to ERC you have to take a 6 course sequence called Makings of the Modern World. My girlfriend had to take classes in that, and in my opinion it sucked.

I don't know much about the other colleges. But here is the way I look at it. If you just want a degree go with Warren. At Warren all you have to take is two upper division classes in a category outside of your major. This just means that if you do math/science you have to take a couple classes in social science or humanities. However, the kicker is that you can put both of these classes on pass/no pass.

If you LOVE academia and you are willing to work more, go with Revelle. It has the most requirements. And if you graduate from Revelle, it will probably look better on a resume.

Muir has the least amount of GE requirements.

Roosevelt has new dorms (remodeled and stuff), but they have a bunch of GEs.

You need to come to Cal Poly anyway :)

Muir or Warren are really tied, but think about it. Warren is like 200x better to live in... but then again Muir's atmosphere is decent except for the old ugly building...

ERC is nice but too bad it is waay off main campus. Hence, you have to catch campus loop shuttles to get back to main campus. My girlfriend parks there, and we always have to catch the shuttle to get back to her car.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that Sixth has a couple bonuses. You get access to a pretty nice mac computer lab that has a big screen TV with a DVD player i.e. you can kick back on a couch and watch DVDs there. You also get access to the Sixth commuter lounge which unlike the other lounges on campus is open 24/7. The computer lab requires you to swipe your student ID to get in, and the commuter lounge has a secret passcode.
